I few months I came across a great article that explains how the Cicada Principal can be used on CSS backgrounds to provide and almost infinitely, non-repeating background (for the purposes of screen anyway).
I thought this was pretty cool at the time and did little with it. Then I came across the album cover for the best of album “The Singles” by Basement Jaxx. I thought the design was pretty cool. All those lovely colors and their seemingly random nature!
Those random nature reminded me of those Cicada Principal backgrounds. I thought I’d have a shot at loosely recreating that album cover in CSS.
You can see the results arent super slick, and as of now only work on Webkit browsers, but I was happy with getting the general idea down.
